Complimentary Alternative Interventions
WHAT IT IS
Complimentary Alternative Interventions (CAIs) help enhance the clinical theory to create holistic wellness. Chandler Counseling and Wellness offers several CAIs that are infused into therapy sessions (only if desired).
Complimentary Alternative Interventions (CAIs) are optional, non-directive supports that may be integrated into therapy at the client’s request. These practices do not replace evidence-based clinical care and are never required for treatment.
Reiki
Reiki is a holistic energy healing practice that originated in Japan and is based on the belief that a universal life force energy — rei (universal) and ki (life energy) — flows through all living beings.
When this energy becomes disrupted or imbalanced, it may impact physical, emotional, or spiritual well-being. Reiki aims to restore balance by supporting the body’s natural capacity for healing.
In this practice, a trained Reiki practitioner serves as a conduit for this life force energy, channeling it through gentle hand placements either directly on the body or hovering just above it.
Tarot/Oracle
Tarot and Oracle cards are decks of illustrated cards that use imagery, symbolism, and archetypes to prompt reflection, insight, and intuitive exploration.
Unlike fortune-telling or predictive uses, in therapy these tools are used to support emotional awareness, personal growth, and connection to one’s inner world. Within this practice, Tarot and Oracle cards are not used to predict the future, but to explore themes, perspectives, and unconscious material that may be influencing the client’s current experience.
The cards function as reflective tools—serving as mirrors for internal thoughts, emotions, patterns, and projections. Symbolic messages drawn from the imagery are explored collaboratively, with a focus on how they connect to the client’s lived experiences.
Crystal Healing
Crystal healing is a holistic, non-invasive modality that involves the use of crystals and gemstones to support physical, emotional, and energetic balance.
Within this practice, crystals may be used in a variety of ways to enhance therapeutic work, especially when working with the body's energy centers, or chakras. Each crystal is believed to hold unique energetic properties that can influence the body, mind, and spirit in different ways.
